Same Road(AT Your Funeral) I'm at your funeral I hear a baby teething The strangest underscore to everybody's grieving I miss you so much but, hey, fuck you for leaving Same road....we're on the same road I look around and I see a bunch of randoms Most of your family, and some school friends here in tandems Your boss on his cell phone even though the preacher banned them It's the same road...voh dee oh doh....we're on the same road I see thought bubbles of wonder Everyone asking themselves, "are my own days numbered?" But oh we deeply feel your loss And those who neglected you their swollen eyes set up on that cross I'm at your funeral and everybody's prayin' I saw your ex crying in her car on the way in.... Then I overheard a couple of people sayin' They're glad it's early so they still can get the day in..... Same road....we're on the same road voh dee oh doh....we're on the same road -CJC

Almighty Rock-n-Roll You play guitar your fingers blister Tape 'em up and play some more Your senior prom you've gone and missed it Fell asleep in your headphones You don't fit no mold You can't be bought or sold Don't feel like doin' what you're told Kid don't fight it it's almighty rock and roll.... You went and took a shot at college Flunked right out and got a job Playing shows and painting houses Sleeping in your friend's garage You don't fit no mold You can't be bought or sold Don't feel like doin' what you're told Kid don't fight it it's almighty rock and roll.... Spend most of my life right here in this basement Don't need no money to feel proud Just do me a favor cue up some Replacements And turn that shit up really LOUD!!! You don't fit no mold You can't be bought or sold Don't feel like doin' what you're told Kid don't fight it it's almighty rock and roll -CJC

HALF CENTURY MAN White caps are rollin' in... Look a little further out, losin' the horizon Part of me is Lieutenant Dan Gonna strap my ass to that mast, point directly at my chin say I'm waitin' on...waitin' on the hour Headin' home to shit, shave, and shower To meet the lord, someone saw him on the Bowery Why do I need therapy someday they're gonna bury me I'm not a man for this age where we talk with our fingers, broadcast our innards... live and die on a screen page... Always selling makes one soul sick If you have the time you can find us on line at the methadone clinic Cause I'm waitin' on...waitin' on the hour Headin' home to shit, shave, and shower to meet the lord, someone saw him on the Bowery Why do I need therapy someday they're gonna bury me Halcyon days.... of golden grass Octobers and a heart pounding gaze Seven years of skin.... And I don't know what I'm destined for, or what's more, where I've been Cause I'm waitin' on...waitin' on the hour Headin' home to shit, shave, and shower to meet the lord, thought I saw him on the Bowery Why do I need therapy someday they're gonna bury me Headlong for the Why-zits and the who-zits Dead wrong, somehow I always choose it In a restaurant feelin' like I'm gonna lose it Oh, Mr Yamaguchi whatcha puttin' in your sushi? Some days my life's a penitentiary, I'm here a half a century.... -CJC

Acrobats 03:11
Acrobats That night we danced pirouettes in the park Under street lamps, throwing silhouettes on the arch of Washington Square, so pretty in the Fall... Then we ditched the check at the diner Saw you home and started to lose my buzz Was before phones, just knew where the action was At after hours got bodily removed Woke up the next day with a shiner...and a loose tooth Some time passed, meant to give you a call Went out, got trashed and if memory serves at all We shared an awkward glance down at Tortilla Flats but when you're young you live and love like alley cats And fall like acrobats.... An average night, especially for back then sober hindsight is a 20/20 lens You looked askance, sensing it was a trap when you're young you live and love like alley cats Had one more chance and I even blew that but when you're young you live and love like alley cats And fall like acrobats.... -CJC

Doris and Rock Everything about you is annoying Everything you do is up on a screen All these candid moments you're enjoying Every one an orchestrated scheme.... Today you're dabbling in drug store Buddha practice You're all "namaste" and yogi platitudes Meanwhile the whole time that you've been at this You've taken fifty photos, they've all been of you..... Doris Day and dear old Rock Had their way with Pillow Talk Rocked ducked down to New Orleans For a stay with the Bayou queens You're always leading with your altruism Whenever asked it's all about the poor Tell me which concern of yours more prescient Immigrant plight or your pop-up store? Doris Day and dear old Rock Had their way with Pillow Talk Rock ducked down to New Orleans For a stay with the Bayou queens.... You're every waking moment's documented Everything you do is to be seen You want your image to be genuflected By those idiots who think your life's a magazine You're always spouting spiritual sayings You are such a predictable bore Meanwhile it's your own soul that's decaying Cause all you ever really want is more..... Doris Day and dear old Rock Had their way with Pillow Talk Rock ducked down to New Orleans For a stay with the Bayou queens.... -CJC

about

Recorded this record in late autumn 2019 at Turbo Tribeca headquarters (Mark Dann Studios) in downtown New York City. We had a target release for early Spring 2020 and a good campaign of gigs scheduled but like John Lennon so wisely sang "Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans. I guess 2020 gave us all a crash course in that one! So now the plan is to go out and play behind this new EP and be grateful for every good, bad, and indifferent night I get to do it. Hope to see you out there!!! -CJC
